Bargains for Writers

November 21, 2007 0 comments

With all the holiday and after Thanksgiving sales going on I decided to see what Amazon had in terms of bargains for writers. Now, I'm not a shopaholic, and I'm not much on fighting the crowd as they bust through the stores' doors the day after Thanksgiving. However, I am always on the lookout for great bargains for writers, and when I want to avoid the crowds and early morning shopping hours, I do my bargain hunting on the Internet. In fact, last year I did 99% of my Christmas shopping at Amazon. Yep, I spent over $500 at Amazon last year, but I loved it because I didn't have to leave my home and battle the long checkout lines to do it.

This year I decided to pay Amazon another visit, but this time I went in search of bargains for writers. This way when I purchase something for my writing business, I not only save BIG, but I can also write it off as a business expense on my taxes.

Are you shopping for bargains for writers or looking to buy gifts for other writers like yourself? Then I encourage you to check out some of the great bargains for writers that Amazon has to offer:

Shopping for the Holidays? Save Money at CouponChief

September 18, 2007 0 comments

Well, it looks as if the holiday shopping season is upon us again. If you'll remember, last year I announced that I did my Christmas shopping online, and I plan to do the same this year. However, I just found out about a website where I can save money... boy, do I wish I'd known about CouponChief last year -- I could have saved a ton of money!

Guess what, though? Now that I'm aware of CouponChief, you can bet I'll save money this year. And since I just discovered this website, I thought I'd share it with y'all as well. After all, we could all benefit from saving money during the holiday shopping season. Let's look at a few of the money-saving opportunities, shall we:

Best Buy has a great selection of discounts to choose from. You could save $100 if you invest in a Canon S51S PowerShot 8.0MP Digital Camera. The original price on that camera is $499.99, but with the Best Buy deals, you can get it for only $399.99. Not a bad bargain if I do say so myself.

In addition to Best Buy, Target is offering a variety of discounts as well. Target coupons range from $5 off an order of $50 or more, free shipping and much more.

I hope you enjoyed what I had to share. I can't help it friends, I'm a sucker for bargains. Until next time, happy shopping!

Virtual Book Swapping

July 29, 2007 0 comments

Richard Pickering & Robert Swarthout
Not only do I enjoy creating characters and stories through my imagination, but I also LOVE reading about characters in stories other writers have created using their imagination. I like to read the types of books I write: inspirational fiction and romance. Of course, I also enjoy a good book every now and then about freelance writing. However, once I finish a book, they just pile up until I find the time to get them to my local bookstore, which I trade in for other used books. Well, now I don't have to go to the bookstore as often, because today I just found a great new Web site for bookworms like myself! At Paper Back Swap, I can list books I have read for others, and when I list those books, I'll receive credits. Then, I will use the credits I received to order books others have listed that I haven't read yet but want to read. What does it cost me? Well, the membership is free, and using my credits to order other books is also free, but I do have to pay at least $2.13 to ship any book I've listed to another reader who requests the book. Is it worth it? I think so, and I can choose from over 100,000 used books, in whatever genre I enjoy!

In 2005 Richard Pickering, founder, and Robert Swarthout, co-partner, launched Paper Back Swap. Since the launch, Paper Back Swap now has members in all 50 states including members from Puerto, Rico and Guam.

"I used to buy books on eBay or Amazon, but I was so frustrated with having to pay for the books and then all the extra handling charges in addition to the postage," Pickering explained in a press release sent out in January of 2006.

Co-partner Swarthout added, "The goal of PaperBackSwap.com is to become the largest virtual library of paperback books in the world."

So, do you have stacks and stacks of books you would like to trade with others? Are you looking for another good book to read in your favorite genre? Then you MUST visit Paper Back Swaptoday. Don't worry; as I said earlier, membership is FREE. I just signed up myself, and I've already listed nine books and am waiting for two that I ordered with my credits to arrive. After you join, comment and let me know your thoughts on Paper Back Swap. Also, feel free to share any of the books you listed there. Who knows, I may be interested in what you read. Happy swapping … and reading!
