Reality TV

November 18, 2005 1 comments

Like many others, I too am a reality tv junky. I watch Survivor, both apprentices, Big Brother, Amazing Race, and many others. I think I drive my husband crazy, he says he's really getting tired of these shows, but yet I catch him from time-to-time getting into them just as much -- though he'll never admit he likes some of them too.

I need your input here folks, so if you're shy about posting comments just email me, please. Here's the deal, I'm considering starting another blog. You will still be able to read about my writing life, but I have also pondered the idea of starting up a reality tv blog too. This blog will cover highlights from the shows (for those of you who may miss a show), and I'll even talk about my takes on the show too. Here's where you're help is needed, tell me what you think (would you be interested in this blog), and since I don't watch every single reality show, and can't cover them all, tell me the reality tv shows you watch the most. Keep in mind when posting your comments, or emailing me on this issue, I no longer have cable so I don't watch those, I watch the ones that are on local television stations (see above).

I'll wait to hear from you on this one. And if this is something the majority of you would like to see I'll be starting the blog real soon. I look forward to hearing from you.

Crafts for Children

November 14, 2005 0 comments

You remember me telling you how I got my first freelancing assignment, well, have I got some more news to add. I got a second assignment for that same magazine (Paducah Parenting & Family), and the assignment was to do an article with easy craft ideas for children. The craft projects were to be things children and their parents could make from around the house, or from things bought at a local craft store. Not only were they crafts children could make as an activity with their parents, but they were also crafts that would make great gifts.

With a short deadline for my second assignment I managed to pull it. After sending my article to the editor at Paducah Parenting & Family magazine I gave at least two weeks to hear something back from her; I expected to be doing a rewrite. Even though I proofread my article many times over before sending it to her I figured she would need more corrections. However, to my surprise no rewrite was needed, and the article appeared in their November 2005 issue. I took it as a good sign that no corrections were needed, and jumped for joy when the article appeared in the magazine.

What made things even better is the editor has asked to meet me, and she will be giving me another assignment soon. I can't even begin to tell you how excited I am, but I can say that I really enjoy working with this editor. She is friendly and honest, and that, in my opinion, is what makes for good business.

If you have young children, and you're looking for some craft projects to do with them check-out my article at http://craftsforchildrenclip.mistisandefur.com -- these crafts also make wonderful Christmas gifts.

Until next time, God bless you and yours.

Never give up on your dreams, work toward them.

Christmas List Fun

November 5, 2005 0 comments

I am a member of the Absolute Write message board, and one of the posts there was from a member who wanted to know (just for fun) what a writer has on his/her Christmas list. I couldn't resist, I had to get in on the fun, and post my Christmas list. Since I posted it there I thought I would share it with y'all too. I had to think before making my list, but this member helped me create a Christmas list for my family. My family has been asking what I wanted for Christmas this year, and now I can tell them. If you're a fan of my writing, and you're feeling generous feel free to be Santa, and I'll gladly accept....just kidding.

I know, I know, get on with it. Okay, you earned it. Here's my Christmas list for this year:

My current desk has no drawers, and I think drawers will help me to get better organized. Not like my new desk won't pile up to where I can't find anything anyway, no matter how many drawers I have.

I would like a paid membership to the National Writers Union (http://www.nwu.org/).

One last thing, the StyleWriter Style, Grammar and Usage Editing Software (http://www.absolutesoftwarestore.com/stylewriter/).

That's it folks. Yes, I know, it's a short list, but hey, just maybe I'll get everything I want this year. Until we meet again, take care, God bless, and never give up on your dreams, work toward them.
